Boy in Linton shoots himself accidentally at orchard

Master Emerson Thompson twelve year old son of Mr and Mrs Jasper Thompson of Linton visiting grandparents near Inora was playing with another boy when a 22 target gun discharged as he bent to pick it up. The bullet entered his right side and shoulder. He was taken to Linton hospital for operation but the bullet location remains uncertain and his life is not believed to be in danger. His parents were notified from Pittsburg and Indianapolis and came to his bedside.

Beck Named Proprietor Of Grand Hotel In Odon

A deal closed yesterday transfers ownership of the Grand Hotel in Odon to J Beck of Elnora. Beck trades his Elnora residence for the hotel and will take charge early next week, with Cummings moving to Elnora. Bennett and Laughlin arranged the sale. Ava Sins traveled to Washington Wednesday and Bun Horning of Elnora visited Odon Sunday.

Mrs Pershing Dead Wife Of Local Farmer Dies At 57

Amy Miller Pershing wife of David M Pershing longtime resident of the county died at home two miles southeast of the city last Monday at about six due to paralysis. Born in 1859 she was 57. She married in 1879 and had eight children Seward Homer Mrs Eli Cunningham Marl Mrs Fred Byrer Mrs Arnold Kelsey Laura and Nellie. Survived by husband two sisters and three brothers. Funeral from the residence Wednesday at 2 30 led by Rev Ernest Roberts. Burial Walnut Hill.

Local oil company official C W Wade dies suddenly

C W Wade manager for Standard Oil in Washington dies Sunday afternoon at about 4 o clock. He collapsed while writing a notice in the Eagles club room and apoplexy is given as the cause. Wade 48, a native of Odon, had lived in Washington most of 17 years and leaves a widow and adopted daughter Florabelle. Funeral was in Washington with burial at Walnut Hill after services at the Wade home. Wade was active in Eagles Elks Moose Ben Hur and United Brethren circles.

Mrs. Jacob Myers Dies Suddenly in Plainville

Mrs. Jacob Myers of Plainville died Saturday night at home after an apparent heart attack. She had been up town shopping and returned home around 9:30 PM. Survived by husband two sons and two daughters. Funeral services were held Monday at the Methodist church in Plainville with burial in Plainville cemetery.

Odon Couple Quietly Wed at Lone Oak Study

Elbert Ernest Sears and Miss Zella Hazel Ledgerwood, well known locals, were married Saturday evening in Rev. C. H. Buchanan's Lone Oak study. A small group of friends attended. The bride is Dan and Mrs. Ledgerwood's daughter. the groom is J. D. Sears and Mrs. Sears' son, employed at the Odon Milling Co. They will reside on East Main Street.

Streets Oiled to Reduce Dust in City Business District

The business section and part of the residential district were coated with oil this week to curb dust. Cool weather thickened the oil, slowing absorption and leaving streets mossy and dirty, trailing residue on passersby who cross. When warm weather returns the soil will absorb the oil, delivering dustless days this summer.
