Creamery opens with initial milk and butter output

The Creamery began regular routes on Monday with an initial trial day turning 1100 pounds of milk into 61 pounds of butter and 768 pounds of cheese. Stockholders own about 300 cows. non stockholders receive the same price. Directors elected Saturday include Lowry Cooper and Milo Smiley. Walter Core named president.

Resume Work on S L Chicago Line Reconstruction

Work on the Chicago line of the Southern Indiana railroad resumed Monday. Three gangs of section men will begin on the north end of the southern division to repair neglected roadbed and facilitate construction trains from Terre Haute. The new bridge north of Terre Haute has been used by officials for a test pass, and a steam shovel will aid repairs as crews push toward finishing the line to Chicago.

Memorial Services for Memorial Day Observed by Veterans

Memorial Day events scheduled with a 10:30 a.m. service May 27 at the U B Church led by Rev W E Snyder. Soldiers gather at their hall, march to the church. Decoration Day May 30 graves at Walentill Cemetery decorated at 9 a.m., then to Odea Cemetery at 1 p.m. for more ceremonies. Rev H A Tarney to speak at 2:30 p.m. at the WA B church. All are invited.

Odeon Town Board Sees Citizens Taxed Or Forced To Work

The Odeon town board prepared a list of road tax liable citizens and handed it to the marshal. He enforces the board by collecting 150 or ordering two days of work from unexempted residents.

Vincennes Architect Proposes School Addition Plan

J W Gaddis, Vincennes architect, drafted a plan for a north side addition to the school building. The proposal adds a hall eight feet wide east to west along the north, with a 32 by 40 foot addition north of it, plus reconfiguring the stair and superintendent’s office. Two rooms would occupy first floor with one on the second and a full basement, at an estimated cost of 85000.

Big Four Field Meet at Washington Highlights Local Schools
