James Chestnut Dies From Mine Injuries At Eaglesville
Jas Chestnut 20, well known in the community, died at his parents home in Eaglesville after injuries from a mine accident months earlier. He was transported to Indianapolis for treatment but died there as conditions worsened. He leaves a father Abe Chestnut, mother, two brothers, five sisters, and many friends. Funeral at Eaglesville Methodist Church led by Rev O C Barker with burial in Eaglesville cemetery.

Consolidated Band of Southern Indiana Plans Debut Concert

Newberry reports an attempted dynamiting of Town Marshal Muer’s house last Friday night. The blast shattered all windows in Muer’s home and in the neighboring Killion residence. no tracks or ground disturbance were found. Auto Crash Near Beasley Farm Injures Moore Family
Last Sunday afternoon Joseph Moore and his wife with a party of young people were driving toward Odon when a broken spring caused the car to skid and overturn. Guests were thrown out and severely injured with Mrs. Moore badly bruised and shocked. Dr. Atkins from Elnora attended at the Beasley residence as the wrecked car turned over and back onto its wheels.

Dr. W. Porter of Loogootee Dies at 80
Dr. W. Porter aged eighty prominent Loogootee physician died last Sunday after a two week illness from blood poisoning stemming from frozen feet. Born in Ohio in 1835 he left eight children eight survived with his wife Mary L. Barnes. A longtime Christian elder and Sunday school superintendent he also belonged to the Masonic lodge. Funeral services were held Tuesday at the Christian church in Loogootee with Rev. C. H. Buchanan delivering the sermon.

Wreck at Shelburn Kills Engineer and Injures Two
Engineer Charles Baldwin, 60, of Evansville, died when the Dixie Flyer of the Chicago and Eastern Illinois railroad wrecked at Shelburn early Sunday. Two men were injured as the southbound train jumped a frog and piled cars. the engine was demolished and the depot front damaged. No passengers were harmed thanks to steel cars. Main track torn up for 200 yards but traffic continued on side tracks.
