Odon High School Holds Inter Class Debate

The annual inter class debate at Odon High School Friday featured Beatrice Hayes and Nelle Lane as the winning negative speakers. A strong audience attended, and an excellent student group contributed to the program. The school plans an oratorical contest on April 8 with Jimmie Dyal Rena Dearmin Clara Correll and Ruth Honicker listed as speakers.

Uncle Drayton Ritter a Greene county pioneer died last Thursday night at his home aged 83. He was survived by his wife three daughters and three sons. Known for long residence and genial disposition he was a prominent church member and beloved county figure.

Killed Girl Then Self in Marion Love Tragedy

Sanford Love, a former Loogootee youth, shot his sweetheart Miss Dottie Murden, 17, in Marion Indiana on Wednesday after she refused to set a wedding date. He then killed himself by poisoning in the county jail at Fort Wayne after surrendering to a passing wagon.

Got Marriage License Then Docked

Lillian Myrtle McBride sues Jonathan Borden and the Bordens in circuit court for breach of marriage contract and to set aside deeds of forty acres worth 24000 made to Elizabeth and Charles Borden. The suit alleges Borden pursued McBride then left for Kansas after obtaining a license on March 3 1910 and deeds were filed March 4 to defraud creditors. An attachment affidavit is filed and the case attracts local interest in the northern county.

Charles A Sims reports eleven acres of clover hay and seed yielded 45 19 per acre. Hay averaged three tons per acre while seed produced 24 bushels with portions sold at 4 50, 8 00 and 9 00 per bushel. Total seed 173 08 and hay 324 00 plus pending sales total 197 08 equals 45 19 per acre. Land value cited as 125 00 per acre.
