John H Shields died at his home near Mewberry on Wednesday from paralysis. Born February 10, 1888, he was 55. He married Lydia A Ragle in 1879 and had three children. after her death he married Sarah E L Slinkard in 1889 and they had seven children. He was brother to Jacob Shields and father of Mrs Ovid Smiley. Funeral services were at Pleasant All yesterday afternoon conducted by Rev Boyder with burial at Pleasant All Cemetery.
Paul Bowmar attended the last day of school at Taylor on Tuesday. Mrs. Eliza Ramsey spent Wednesday with Mrs. John Bair in Odon. Miss Mamie Herndon of Eaglesville visited here from Saturday. Verna Sears spent the latter part of last week with Miss Alice Cuanningham of Bailes. J. W. Richardson and son Dean worked at Leonard Ramsey's this week. Orville Laughlin taught school here Monday. Mrs. Rezia Overton is on the sick list. Miss Beulah Fellers spent Tuesday night with Zella Miller. Edna Ramsey was at Odon Wednesday.
Mrs Lee Faith visited Linton with friends while Miss Gladys Hanneh spent Sunday with Lois and Verna Gourtney. Effie Fulkerson of Bagleesville visited her sister Courtney. Clarence Rhuebottom and brother spent Sunday with D A Rhuebottom. Joseph Hastings and a wife of Maud Pike called on John Hastings and wife D H. Auztnay took a trip to Odon as did James and George Killion on business Tuesday.
Orleans society notes: a small wedding took place Monday afternoon at the bride's residence with friends attending. The ceremony marked a joyful occasion as families celebrated the union of Jonce Monyhan and the bride.
