Big land deals recorded in Elmora township

Two large parcels changed hands at the courthouse on Saturday. Matthew Pattchett sold 120 acres to James H. Dennis for 10 800 dollars. George Patchett sold 40 acres to Dennis for 3 600 dollars. Patchett resides in Daviess county while the other buyers and sellers are from Crawford county Illinois.

Cushman Sentenced to Reform School for Theft

Ray Cushman, before the juvenile court at Washington, was sentenced by Judge Hough to the boys school at Plainfield until age twenty-one for stealing a watch and revolver from his step brother. He is son of Levi Cushman of Elmore township.

Teachers Examinations Reach Big Cast for Licenses

County Superintendent B. J. Burris led two examinations on Saturday for teacher licenses. Prof. A. T. Mayfield conducted one at the Odon school and another in the county superintendent's office. Fifty applicants sought licenses at Washington and twenty five at the local site, making a large class in months. Four members of the senior class sat the exam here.

Death of Infant Ethel Helm at 21 days

Ethel Natalie Helm, infant daughter of Mr and Mrs A C Helm, died Saturday morning from erysipelas at twenty one days old. Funeral service held at home Saturday afternoon by H A Turney of the Christian church. Floral tributes abundant. Burial at Walnut Hill cemetery.
