Twenty three of eighty five examined earned a passing grade. Eleven papers were sent to the state for grading and if successful the applicants may teach in any county. Those who passed include Bessie Brown Eunice Brown Flossie E Barley Don C Faith Bertha Gamble Mary Hastings F F Osman Edna Pickett Mary Wright Estelle Spitz Lawrence Clark Agnes Pate and Charles B Pate from Raglesville and Washington with Poe noted as a surname fragment.
The Southern Indians Poultry Association moves toward a major show with rapid membership growth. A meeting led by Vice-President Love drafted a constitution and by laws and planned an extensive campaign for the largest show in the country. The date is pending to avoid conflicts with other events as interest in poultry industry rises.
Margaret A. Thomas, aged resident of Madison township, died at W. E. Jackson’s home eight miles northeast of Odon. Cause of death listed as general ce Dilty after three weeks illness. Survived by seven brothers and three sisters. Funeral at Mr. Olive Wednessey at 3:00 p.m. led by Rev. C. H. Bechanan. burial at the German La'heren church.
Construction progresses on a new Odon Light and Power Plant with a modern brick building, 42 by 37 feet, housing engine, boiler rooms, offices and storage. The project uses a Curtiss 120 horsepower engine, two large boilers, white cedar poles, and an alternating current system with an excitator for direct dynamo distribution.
The state board of finance orders county treasurers to send 25 percent of Land in the state revenue and benevolent institution land funds by March 10 to cover bills. County Treasurer Clark sent 2815 as an early installment, though settlements usually occur in May and the county loses 2 percent interest until then.
Mrs J H Baird of North Spring street suffered a fall yesterday morning while preparing breakfast. She struck her head on a door facing and sustained a cut to her right temple and injuries to her arm and hand. She was assisted and received medical attention.
Mrs Nellie Keck wife of Everett Keck a well known local farmer died of pneumonia after a short illness at her home east of Odon. The Kecks opened the hardware firm with a big closing day drawing contest and many prizes awarded to attendees.
County auditor has received the township trustees reports on dog funds in Madison and Elmore townships. Washington township reports are missing. The statements show balances carried forward and receipts including assessments, totaled at 822.75 with various line items totaling 285.75 on hand and 141.00 received, plus 46.00.
Teacher James Cunningham near Newberry was bitten on the leg by a dog on a school doorstep. The dog then attacked Chris Inman and injured stock in nearby yards before being killed. Tests confirmed hydrophobia. Dogs to be muzzled. Cunningham to undergo Pasteur treatment in Newberry after consultation with doctors.

Newberry Fred Slinkard of Linton visited town Tuesday. Miss Mary Long returns home after visiting friends in Washington township. Ed Beate traveled to Terre Haute Friday. Mrs Grave Haines and her nephew from Danville attended church Friday night. Mrs Frances Brinson is slowly recovering from illness.
