Willie C Bratten a 17 year old from Elnora was fined 82 by Mayor Clark for contempt of court after failing to appear as a witness against Sherman Weaver charged with liquor violations He was placed under a 50 bond to insure appearance and in default jailed The boy said Weaver took him in a carriage to Odon gave him 85 and ordered him to leave the county until after the trial.

Mexican War Veteran James C. Carlton Dies in Bedford

James C. Carlton, last surviving Mexican War veteran and president of the Mexican War Veterans Association, died in Bedford on February 23. His funeral was held Sunday, February 26, at the Christian church in Lawrence County.
