John Dagon Pete Scanlon and Dan Kincaid were seized by four deputy marshals from Diamond and taken to Rockville jail after a brawl at a Diamond justice proceeding. Dagon a young attorney defended a man and allegedly provoked the fight by saying fight it out. The altercation left the Diamond marshal and others severely injured and in danger.
One hundred twenty five delegates from outside Terre Haute meet to respond to a street railway strike issue. The plan aims to start an automobile service to compete with the street railway interurban and city service, backed by local unions and merchants allies.
John Haynes, a Black worker from Wabash, shot Clarence Gillespie at the Peru steel casting works. A mob of steel workers threatened lynching before officers arrived, Haynes was jailed, Gillespie wounded and hospitalized with brain injury and no hope of recovery.
In Orleans Indiana on June 13 a strong flow of sulphur water was struck at 50 feet depth in the southwest area. Water issues from a six inch pipe nine and a half feet above the surface and is described as very strong and comparable to French Lick and West Baden. It is claimed to be the largest sulphur water stream in Southern Indiana and a stock company is being organized for its development.
Wm. H. Compton was arrested in Indianapolis for striking Mrs. Jennie Durand. He boasted of paying her 85 cents to stay away, was brought before Judge Stubbs, and fined 100 dollars and 90 days in the workhouse for assault while receiving 35 days for intimidating a witness.
Indianapolis June 16 The governor declares Dr Hurty is mainly responsible for Indiana quarantine declared by the Kentucky board of health and now suspended by its latest action.
Salem Ind June 14 Dr H C Hobbs resigns as postmaster for four years at this place effective July 1 due to factional fighting that has persisted locally.

In Lafayette Indiana on June 16 the Tippecanoe Battlefield association held its annual exercises at the battleground tabernacle. Special trains carried a large crowd to the site where graves of battle casualties were decorated. Hon Henry Watterson spoke on Heroes in Homespun and was hosted by a 50 member citizen committee before a Lafayette club banquet and reception.
Two thousand visitors attended the fifth annual saengerbund festival in Ft Wayne Indiana on Sunday with societies from Toledo Peru South Bend Marion and Alexandria taking part. Highlights included a prize song contest a large parade and a mass concert at a park. The session closed Monday night with a grand concert.
In Indians, June 14, the jury acquitted Frank Stewart of being an accessory after the fact to the murder of Wilson Haynes in Coatesville on November 23, 1901. Stewart was discharged in open court and returned home to Coatesville. Charles Hampton of Coatesville was convicted of delivering the fatal blow.
Peru Indiana, June 13. Two months after Charles Lane wed Miss Lephart he vanished, leading the town to fear a broken vow. Lane reappeared Wednesday night claiming a Danville Illinois job and now intends to reclaim his wife.
Terre Haute June 14. President Saxton fined Evansville manager Kennedy $25 and Terre Haute manager Walters $15 after assaults on umpire Hogan. Hogan was discharged. Kennedy's blows were stated to have more power in the incident.
A. P. Crim Madison county auditor filed a court report detailing an investigation of the county treasurer’s office during C. F. Herrit’s term ending December 31, 1899. The report notes a due amount of 13084.38 from Herritage to Madison county.
In Fort Wayne Indiana on June 14 an automobile owned by E B Kunkle of the Kunkle safety valve works exploded after a pleasure ride. Kunkle parked the car in a shed and forgot to extinguish the gasoline fire.
Noblesville Indiana June 16 The jury acquitted William Fodrea charged with the assassination of John E Seay after a quick deliberation of one hour and thirty minutes. Only four ballots were cast before the verdict.
The Northern Indiana Editorial association began its convention in South Bend Indiana with representation from almost every Northern Indiana city. The gathering opened on June 18 and drew editors from many locales to discuss industry matters and regional issues.
Arthur Newby, builder of the Newby oval in Indianapolis, has supplied a receiver for the racing ground. The track, erected in 1893, is funded at 9 percent and 2,000 dollars, claimed as the best equipped cyclemen track in the country for the national meet.
