The M. E. church has been repainted with new concrete steps and interior remodeling. A furnace excavation is completed for installation in the fall. The Epworth League district convention will be held in the church next week.
J. Gerkin formerly principal of the Epsom school and a noted figure in Odon is signed with Uncle Sam to teach in the Philippine Islands and will sail next month.
Paul Wadsworth comes home to Vincennes on Sunday after spending a week with his grandparents Mr and Mrs A N Singleton of Van Buren township.
Jesse Oral Arvin of Plainville and Miss Hannah Elizareth Hedrick were married Sunday night at eight at Reverend C. H Buchanan's home. Arvin, a barber, weds the youngest Hedrick daughter Dott. They visit Indianapolis and northern Indiana before living with Dr. Hedrick in east Odon until fall.
Rural mail carriers will earn 1000 dollars per year starting in July, a 100-dollar increase from current pay. The raise was approved as an amendment to the appropriation bill passed by the House and subsequently by the Senate. It marks the third raise since the rural service began in 1903, with previous salaries of 600, 750, and 900 dollars.

Rev C E Wareing pastor of the largest Sunday school in the world will address the Epworth League convention on Wednesday at 2 00 p m and again at 8 00 p m A popular lecture on the cities of the dead past will be delivered Dr Wareing teaches in his church 1400 men in the Sunday School Don t fail to hear him.
The Epworth League convention runs June 6 to 8 with services at the Methodist church. The first service Tuesday at 2 PM is a conservation service led by J H Allen. Rev H H Allen speaks at 7 30 PM, and Dr. Wareing appears at 2 90 PM and 8 PM Wednesday. The district covers eight charges with 14349 church members and 4843 Ipworth League members. delegates allocated by 25 members.
The Davidson damage suit brought by EK E. Davidson's wife against various parties to whom she alleged libelous content in a letter has been settled by agreement and will not go to trial. A parallel federal case in Cincinnati involving Piqua parties also settled. The affidavit accusing Elmer J. Davidson of wife desertion against Laura Clark Davidson filed last year was dismissed in Mayor McCarty's court.
Memorial services for Odd Fellows Knights of Pythias Modern Woodmen Red Men and Tribe of Ben Hur will be held Sunday June 4. The parade forms on Main Street at 2 o’clock led by the 8S. 1 Band and proceeds to Walmut Hill cemetery. At the Good Hope church grave a program with Prof J W Gillaspie presiding includes music by S I Band songs Life is But a Vapor prayers by Rev Eng T Lewis and Rev C M Day as well as a male quartet. A band concert will follow. R J McCallian chairman. El and Frank Correll visited Indianapolis to attend the Speedway races.
