Former Odon Preacher Killed in Carbide Tank Explosion
Rev. D I Levis formerly pastor of the Christian church at Odon died instantly when a twenty gallon calcium carbide tank exploded in a tent during a stereopticon show about the San Francisco quake. His helper George McMeenus was killed and his son Harry E Levis was badly shocked. The blast also wrecked the nearby wall. twenty boys on the sidewalk escaped injury. Harry survived, thinking overcharging the tank caused the blast due to watch gauge neglect. Remains were taken by local Knights of Pythias and Modern Woodmen lodges.

Indiana State Fair outlines five full days of exhibits and events

Prohibition Candidates Endure Rough Reception in Indiana
The Indianapolis Star reports that Prohibition touring party led by A. L. Crim and C E Newlin faced a hostile crowd in Cannelton Indiana where a street fight erupted after the town marshal ordered the group to move on Newlin allegedly fought off attackers and noted the marshal owns two saloons. Newlin later described witnessing a hotel poker game in Rockport with bets of 8250 per minute and gave a public warning about it.
