An excursion train on the Louisville Evansville St Louis line wrecked near Evansville at 6 o clock Thursday night. At least three people died as a transfer company employee allegedly threw a switch too soon causing the rear car to jump the track and plunge into a ditch. The car was crowded and the full extent of the wreck remains undisclosed.

Desperado Captured After Attack on Marshal in Tennessee
In McKenzie and Westixcrox Tennessee on July 16 Cole man Hart, described as an unsavory Negro, attempted to murder Marshal Urvant. Hart fired five times, one shot pierced the marshal’s hat and another struck his right leg. Hart’s revolver jammed and his life was spared before capture.

Three Attempts to Burn the Indianapolis Females Prison
Sunday night three separate arson attempts disrupted the Indiana female reform school in Indianapolis. Chicago Labor Assembly Calls for Pinkertons Frick Arrest
