A report explains how creosote impregnation through an open tank extends fence post life up to twenty years by treating low grade woods such as cottonwood willow and sycamore. Costs range a few cents per post, with regional creosote prices varying and Forest Service Circular 117 detailing commercial methods. Mr Yeager plans to leave Odon as he settles his affairs.
The annual meeting of the stockholders of the Elnora Canning Company was held Monday afternoon. The secretary reported a handsome profit for the season and directors were elected for one year: Ransom Pope, Thomas J. Payne, J. E. Pershing, William J. Imp, Gorge W. Myers, H. G. Beever, and Harry Hitchcock. The board then elected Ransom Pope president, J. E. Pershing vice president, George W. Myers secretary, and Harry Ditebcokk treasurer.
The B D hardware store changes ownership with new partners B D Smiley Gewry Cooper C O Vaughlin and Melvin Caoper taking charge. Former owner B D Smiley sold the qioe to G C Garber who then traded to T W Yeager Co. Laughlin’s Main street property and other holdings are part of the deal.
Representative T. D. Slimp of Washington received over two dozen Hungarian quail from State Game Commissioner Z. T. Sweeney to be leased in Daviess County. The plan aims to stock every county and release the birds, delaying freeing them until spring. Sweeney reportedly planned ten pairs of pheasants or Hungarian quail to be sent.
Col Bryan presents travel book with 251 engravings based on photos from his party. It covers governmental religious and social conditions observed around the world. Published by Thompson Publishing Co at low price, sold by subscription with broad appeal to readers.

This week Bennett & Laughlin brokered a trade transferring Pickett & Morrison to Robert Stenson & Bros of Mt Vernon Ind. The deal includes a Kentucky 330 acre land tract for the trade and 79 acres south of town plus 10 acres east of town for Mr. Morrison. Store invoicing reached about 35000 dollars. The Genera have assumed management and will keep the clerks. Mr Pickett contemplates possibly becoming a traveling salesman.
Fred Gantz chief clerk in the U S freight office at Seymour accidentally shot himself in the breast with a 38 caliber revolver Friday night. He will recover. He is a nephew of Dan Gantz of this place.
The Brookville attorney and former Franklin county Republican chair seeks the 37th Judicial District judgeship. His career spans teaching, service in the Spanish American War, law, and business. The Brookville American praises his active politics and efforts to harmonize Republicans while stressing his self made rise.
Two copies of Taz Open Journal traveled a long journey likely around the world. Sent to Mr BE W Montgomery in the Philippine Islands, he returned to America and papers were forwarded to Odon. They arrived in good condition with pencil inscriptions proving the journey. Uncle Sam does his work well.
The Alpha Club entertained last Sunday with former president Mrs. C. U. Baker as hostess at Bedford. Guests received pretty souvenirs as mementos. Attendees included Mesdames W. T. Alexander, W. S. Haig, H. V. Merrill, W. W. Harper, Melvin Cooper, W. H. Hueston, T. B. Rankin, and C. O Clemmer.

Mrs Frank Pew and children returned to Coshocton Ohio after a visit. Mrs Wm Sanders visited her father in Martin county. Jacob Summerville of near Scotland was here earlier. Earl Kelsey and wife visited in Van Buren. Republicans from the area attended the convention on Saturday. D B Ogden of Scotland was here earlier. Journal want ads bring results.

Daily trains schedule from Seymour to Terre Haute and back. Northbound departures from Seymour at 6:40 am 12:30 pm 5:35 pm with arrivals at Terre Haute around 11:00 am 4:50 pm 9:55 pm. Southbound services depart Terre Haute 7:00 am 11:15 am 5:45 pm, with final arrival at Seymour 11:15 am 3:35 pm 10:05 pm.
