District convention names chairman at Vincennes gathering

A lively district convention met in Vincennes on Tuesday afternoon to nominate a district chairman. J G Allen of Washington chaired. Will Hayes of Sudlivag received nomination without opposition. Resolutions backed Taft and Beveridge. Dr Thorace Lewis of Vincennes University endorsed for state superintendent. Delegates praised the meeting as vigorous and forward looking.

Ten years pass since George Cuhoighsatay left home after a period of absence. He returned to his father’s town in Pennsylvania after teaching abroad. He traveled through the Southwest state and was seen in Sunbrane Place near the epicenter of a recent earthquake. Thomas Nugent was unanimously chosen Republican county chairman with J G Allen as only opposing name not presented. Delegates to the county convention on March 15 and the Washington convention on March 30 were set, with about 405 delegates expected. Body Found In Cornfield Near Lin ton

The dead man identified as 27 year old Charles Barker was found in a cornfield four miles south of Lin ton. Arch Hawkins first identified him then Barker's father near Newberry confirmed. Barker had been missing three weeks and rats had nested in his pockets and nibbled his face. Authorities believe he froze to death.

Arm Injured At Work In Milling Plant

Harve Lane of Qdon Milling Company was injured early yesterday when his arm was caught in a belt and shaft. He was thrown onto the concrete floor and suffered severe bruising with torn skin. Doctors ruled out a broken arm after examination.

Thieves rob Pesfond store in Einora. cash and goods stolen

Thieves broke into J. F. Danner & Son, Pesfond store, Einora, Wednesday night. They took 25 dollars in cash cigars and jewelry totaling about 50 dollars. Bloodhounds followed the trail to the depot but could not locate the culprits. officers suspect the robbers left on a train.
