John Stewart, a well known resident, collapsed in West Oden last night at 7:31. Medical help arrived too late. doctors report death from paralysis. He had been in ill health for some time but remained able to be about town until shortly before his death.
The Red Cross membership drive closed at Christmas with Daviess County reaching its quota. A systematic campaign added 175 members to the organization, with continued progress expected to meet the five hundred mark in the township. The county overall reported a good surplus toward its goal.
Local residents and relatives spend weekends visiting in Elnora and surrounding areas. Mentions include Ketchem, Pruett, Critchlow, Debott, Keller, Myers, and Groves families with several drives to Washington and Elnora. The fire began from a defective flue and quickly spread through the roof of Leamon Cooper’s residence on Spring Street. Miss Hazel McCallian and Pauli Sears united in marriage Sunday afternoon at 4 30 at their new West Main Street home. Rev A C Trusty officiated. Attendants were Miss Etta Berry and Harold McCallian. The couple will reside in this city.
Miss Hazel Chinn formerly of this city and now a South Milford teacher married John J. Soeder last Sunday at 9 am in Ronoake Indiana. Ceremony by W E Snyder D D witnessed by Mrs Snyder and daughter Freda and bride's brother Harve Cilaa. The couple will visit the bride's parents before heading to Ft Wayne.
A string of holiday visits fills Christmas news as Mr and Mrs Laie Kirk and families visit relatives in Scotland Indiana Polis residents Josephine Alien and Katherine McElroy are mentioned. The SHS pie social drew crowds and a late ball game against Plainville closes the week with the SHS boys.
Happy New Year greetings from Raglesville Journal. Several visitors arrive for holidays including Miss Lettier Wadsworth from Chicago and Miss Pansy Dyal from Indianapolis to spend time with local relatives. Families hosting include the Wadsworths and Pates with multiple arrivals from nearby towns.

Alma C. Shanklin married Arthur T. Mayfield at the Methodist parsonage last Wednesday eve ning. The Crescent theatre owner and Shields & Mayfield lawyer are well known in Jasonville and left for visits in Terre Haute and Indianapolis after the ceremony.
Mr and Mrs Geo Hackler and Mrs Bel Palmer shared Sunday time. Mrs Rovert Orr and Ruth visited John and Mary Ketchem. Thomas Wilkins and May left for Terre Haute then Ohio to see relatives. Cassie Lucas returned from Illinois for Christmas. Leon Shaver came from Indianapolis to celebrate with family. Shaver has joined the medical department. Cisco Palmer and Bloomington family visit Mrs Bell Palmer. Francis Von returned to Petersburg for Christmas. Maude Ritter visited Daisy and Verna Young. Carl Ketchem, stationed at Camp Taylor Kentucky, returned home for furlough.
