A devotional poem expresses longing for divine presence and guidance. The speaker speaks of God as eternal, invisible, and life-giving, admitting mystery yet affirming faith in truth, love, and mercy. The poem contemplates human tenderness and obedience in a world of darkness.

The Odon Methodist Church organized in 1831 with E. J. Redman as class leader and O. H. Tanser as pastor. A frame house was erected in 1860, and the church grew with many accessions under early preachers. By 1885 a brick church was begun and completed, dedicatory services led by Rev. Work McHester. The church flourished with preaching, Epworth League, and a Sunays School of over two hundred members. Trustees and workers named include C. E. Odell, Jos. Kinnasan, Sam Dunlap, W. Teelle, J. O. W. Auction, W. Bis, and J. Pietoek.
The Four railroads bid to control a line from forty two to fifty three and indicate a possible successful deal. A Link from Elnora to Vincennes would connect Big Four lines Cairo to Cincinnati and form a route St Louis Cairo Louisville Greensburg Indianapolis Chicago back to St Louis. The Pennsylvania Company may also gain a connecting role though not as large.

The railroad will sell excursion tickets at one and one third fare for round trips December 24 25 26 1896 and January 1 1897 between all EX RRR stations and to points on E TL and E&THRRs. Tickets valid sale date through January 4 1897. Students from colleges may travel on EER to January 20 for return passage.

The record traces the Obom Christian Church from a 1850s schoolhouse meeting place to a 1891 dedication after building on Spring Street. Elders and deacons are named, including J Hastings Burton Sears D J Smith M Cummings and Leb Carpenter. The growth reflects relocations and a move to an opera house before completing the new house. The present membership reaches about one hundred.
