Farmers Federation membership drive starts in county
The Farmers Federation launches a county wide drive to recruit members with meetings in every township through December 15. L A Pittenger of the State Federation will speak at each gathering, including a Madison event at the Christian Church basement tonight at 7. A program of readings and music follows, with refreshments and a social to end the evening.

Ford Truck Hits Mail Carrier Near Town
Chas. Pate rural carrier on route two was struck by a Ford truck last Monday evening. The cart he drove was demolished and Pate bruised. Driver H. V Merrill failed to see the cart amid dim rain. Pate was thrown into a ditch but only slightly bruised. The truck was lightly damaged and no serious injuries occurred.

Corner stone laid for new Methodist Episcopal church
The corner stone of the new Methodist Episcopal church was laid last Sunday afternoon with District Superintendent R H Toole delivering the address. A copper box containing a Bible a copy of the Odon Journal a copy of the Western Christian Advocate a pastors list a history of the Wesleyan Class photos of the church and pastor was placed inside. Construction continues though slowed by cold weather with basement work complete walls rising and first floor steel in place awaiting favorable conditions.

Library Board Reports Growth After Repairs
The Library Board met at the city library for its regular monthly session after recent repairs. November showed growth in both the library and circulation with 2191 books available and 817 circulations. average daily circulation was 64. Sixty eight new books were added in November and reference work for schools plus nearby townships was substantial.
