Henry Gastineau of Linton visited Odon on Monday for business matters.
Rev Isom Beasley, longtime pastor of Little Shiloh and Mt Olive Baptist churches, preached his farewell in Linton as he resigns to serve Coal City. A Wright township native, Beasley raised prize White Plymouth Rock fowls and pursued college study before advancing in his calling. He remains active in Mount Olive meetings while departing his current charge.
Mrs Lucinda Fields of Washington dies at 102 years old Sunday at the home of her daughter Mrs Andrew Bates on East Fourteenth Street. Old age is listed as the cause. She was the oldest Washington resident and second oldest in Daviess County, famed for recalling her Kentucky girlhood and historic events. Even in decline she kept busy with sewing and visiting.
The Meredith common law marriage suit ends in Washington. Mrs. Laura E. Poucher receives 10000 settlement via Eph Inman and Hastings Allen Hastings firm. She may owe around 1500 in litigation costs and returns to Indianapolis.
A. S. Anderson of Muncie will begin gospel meetings Thursday evening upstairs over Mr Laughlin's office. Sessions feature Bible topics and prophecies from Daniel and Revelation with discussions on signs of the times second coming labor and capital and other subjects. Evenings include song service at 7 15 and preaching at 7 30. All are welcome.
Wa County resident Wa H. Kinnaman declares his bid for the office of supervisor in Wa District No. 2. He outlines qualifications and plans to serve the district, seeking support from local voters.
John Burgholzer of Burgholzer & Son at Elnora nearly cashed a counterfeit check from a stranger who posed as Walter Melvin. The man paid $5, used a Terre Haute bank, and later cashed the same check at a hardware store before fleeing to the depot. He returned the money and left town after police intervention.
Several friends gathered at Mrs P A Winklepleck’s home last Saturday evening to celebrate her birthday. The event featured music games and contests with a two course lunch of sandwiches pumpkin pie cocca cake and ice cream. She received several beautiful presents and a post card shower was given in her honor.
