Westbound freight No. 69 halted after a box car burst into flames between this city and Cancerburg. Crew battled the fire from a pond then uncoupled the fiery car to a passing track. Contents included two pianos, whiskey, shoes, and marbles, all destroyed. Cause suspected from matches in the car. Loogoote Sentinel.
Geo H Tapy the state High School inspector visited the school on Tuesday. Teachers Miss Lula Ramsey Fannie O Dell Havel Chinn were ill and absent but others taught. The faculty attends Daviess county teachers association in Washington. A library fund drive is planned with house to house canvassing to seek contributions from citizens.
