Large crowds filled the twenty-fifth annual Old Settlers gathering in Odon for a three day homecoming. Trains and wagons poured in while speakers band concerts baseball games and balloon ascensions provided entertainment. Miss IrEn Willinggis won a gold watch after a strong contest as others received prizes and jewelry for their efforts.
Rolla G. Inman wed Miss Glayhuber in Norfolk amid family joy. The groom, former college athlete and Navy veteran, returns to Norfolk with his wife after training and service. The ceremony united two prominent local families as they plan a future in the city.
Nearly one hundred family members gathered in Van Buren township for the Spaulding reunion on Mars, with nine children of Mrs. Spauldine present. Several named relatives from Indiana, Missouri, Washington, and California attended, while a few were absent. Janet Ward received a fountain pen for subscriptions to the Journal, and readers are urged to vote for their favorite girls as prizes total $400 in value.
Trustee releases a list of 11 Van Buren township teachers for the 1910-11 year. Items include James Oval at No 2 Pavior, Agnes Pate at No 8 Liberty, Will Miller at No 4 Patterse, Doyle at No 5, and Ray Burns at High School among others.
A deal was closed in Washington last week where M. J. Carnahan and H. W. Truebrood disposed of the controlling interest in their hardware business to a new firm formed by H. L. O Donrell J. W Cochran and Arthur S. Barrows with Barrows as president and Cochran as secretary-treasurer while Carnahan and Truebrood retain minor stock and retire from active management. No firm name change is planned at present.
The infant daughter of Mr and Mrs Ford Baker died Monday morning after birth on Friday. Doctors cited underdeveloped lungs causing the death. A short song and prayer service was held at the home at ten and the burying took place at Walnut Hill cemetery.
Martin Mallett thirty five from Bogard township has been in Russia since Page 10 employed by the Case Threshing Machine Company of America as a demonstrator of farm machinery. He writes Russia is good for wheat but people are poor and landowners overwork workers. Wieln I Zosthe, daughter of Mr and Mrs Mauford Civerton, born at 2 PM and died at her parents home Vue PO TOEO. She was cherished sister to many and widow to Liane Zeteber. Three sons Lovel Po, Melvin Ho, and others mourn her loss. She joined United Brethren Church in Rainesville and remained a member until death. Viola lived a Christian life and leaves father, mother, brother, husband, and many friends.

Robert B. Williams Callahan Drug Store manager Gov Phoderson vandertaker Ro McCathan Trustee of Moncison Township Maeloo consented to serve as judges. They are three of Odon's best known citizens and will unlock ballot boxes on Sept FO and oversee vote counting.
The Christian Church holds Sunday School at 2500. mi with communion and preaching. Junior C. E. at 2 p.m. Preaching at 7:80 p.m. The evening topic may be "Fixing the Gulf aml" with W. B. Morriss as pastor.
