Death by own action at Odon drayman’s barn
William Potts long time resident and drayman of Odon was found dead by hanging from a barn rafter on East Race Street. Coroner ruled death by his own hands after inquest. Potts, troubled by melancholia, left no note and was last seen at dinner at the Grand Hotel. He leaves a sister Mrs Ford Baker of Indianapolis and two brothers in Chicago. Funeral held at Henderson’s residence with burial at Mr Olive cemetery.

Store Robbery at Pickett General Store on South Spring
Thieves pried the door lock with a plow point to break into C. A. Pickett's store on South Spring street Monday night and took two suits of clothes and two pairs of shoes. Shoes and one hanger were found in Neeriemer's chamber yard the next morning. An attempt to enter Danuer's on Main street failed. No clue to the culprit has been obtained.

Painful Injury to Mrs Sam Weathers Near Newberry
Mrs Sam Weathers of near Newberry suffered a serious injury Saturday while returning from the Old Settlers Meeting at Odon. A frightened horse pulled the carriage off the ground as an engine approached the railroad. She fell unconscious for about two hours, was taken to Dr DeMotte's office for treatment, and returned home that evening bruised and strained. A week earlier she was hurt when an automobile crashed into her buggy, spraining her wrist and arm.

The 27th Old Settlers meeting drew large crowds over three days with farmers day speeches by M. E. Fisher and visits by Judge J. Ben Wilson Mayor Shank Clifford Jackman and Robert Q O Nea l. The U S Band performed nightly, balloon ascensions and parachute jumps drew spectators, and premium awards highlighted exhibits of fruits grains and pastries. Attendance was around five thousand with many turns away for lack of room.

Squire Hayes Dead longtime Nadison official in Indiana
Squire J. M. Hayes, a respected Odon resident and longtime justice of the peace in Nadison township, died last Wednesday morning at 6:30 at his sister-in-law’s home. Born in Ohio in 1841, he was seventy and never married. He left one sister, Mrs. Sarah Ringo of Terre Haute, and was a charter member of the K P Lodge in Odon. Funeral services were held yesterday at the residence with Rev. Davis. interment at Walnut Hill.

Horse Stolen, Then Found Near Elnora
Emerson Black near Bloomfield reported a horse stolen from a hitchrack Friday night. The missing horse was found loose near Elnora Saturday forenoon and returned to the owner in Odon.
