Old Settlers Close Saturday Highlighted By Crowds And Premiums
The 29th annual Old Settlers meeting wrapped up Saturday night after three days of picnicking that drew about 5000 people on Friday and similar crowds on Saturday. Premiums were awarded, Prof Frier gave valuable lectures, and the Ferris wheel and merry-go-round led concessions. Festive stalls, penny arcade games, and various shows filled the grounds as families enjoyed the entertainment into late hours.

Aged Madison Woman Mumaw Dies After Illness
Mrs Lauran Mumaw a well known Madison township resident died at her home northeast of the city on Monday after two months of declining health She was seventy two and a Ohio native who came to the county in 1868 She married Henry Mumaw in 1870 and was widowed in 1886 Survived by son John A Mumaw and two grandchildren Funeral services were held at Pleasant Hill Church with Rev D P McCoy leading burial at Pleasant Hill cemetery

Elnora Pioneer D R S Ketchem Dies After Long Illness
D R S Ketchem known as Uncle Sal died at his Elnora home Monday evening after several years of illness. Born August 21 1843 he lived most of his life in this town. He ran a local butcher shop in Elmore township early in the town's history and later retired. Friends remember his jovial nature and outdoor love spending days hunting fishing and roaming fields. He leaves his wife and two sons Joseph S Ketchem of Elnora and Louis M Ketchem of Indianapolis. Funeral held Wednesday at home with burial in the old cemetery.

Burns City native Frank Magner dies after cancer fight
Frank Magner, aged about eighty, longtime Burns City resident and veteran, died Saturday after weeks of cancer. Survived by six children and several grandchildren. last wife was Mary Barnes. Funeral held with Rev. Wm Twill officiating, followed by G A R and I O O F rites. Magner, once living east of town, was widely known and respected.

Hiram Brown Dies After Months of Illness at Burns City
Hiram Brown of Buena City died Friday and was buried Saturday after services at the Christian church. He suffered for months from a complication of diseases and left a wife, three daughters, and four grandchildren. Surviving daughters include Mrs James Sneclair, Mrs Ie Webster, and Mrs Opha Carrall of Burns City. Brown lived about sixty eight years in Burns City vicinity and was a member of the Christian church.
