Apoplexy Causes Chautauqua Death in Local Note

Albert S. Boyd well known farmer north of town died suddenly Wednesday night from apoplexy after a day of health and light farm work. He, aged about fifty six, leaves a wife and two children. The obituary notes his character, church membership, and funeral arrangements, with a lengthy account of community life and the Chautauqua program in Oden.

Flinn Family Reunion Held at Merom Bian

The Flinn family held their second annual reunion at Merom Bian last Sunday with relatives arriving in fourteen cars from nearby areas. Sixty three dined together at noon, described as a highlight, as they visited and planned for next year’s gathering with no location fixed yet. Luther Oxd and family were visiting Trinity Springs for a few days after the event.

Isabel Sipes Rises From Elnora Community

Isabel Webster Sipes died at her Elnora home after a lingering illness. Born March 9 1815 in Martin County she married Henry Sipes in 1870 and had five children including Nelson Jonathan Dora and Mary. Funeral service was held at the Burns City Christian church with burial in Burns City cemetery.

Death of James Raney Reverberates in Raglesville Community

Mrs M O Pate traveled to Vincennes on Tuesday due to the death of James Raney a half brother who suffered from long tuberculosis. Neighbors share brief visits and recall histories from Brown township and Martin county. Fall plowing resumes after rains as locals attend to daily tasks and visits across the area.

Little Girl Dies of Cholera Captum at One Year

Ruth Mary Johnson, six days past her first birthday, died at home west of the city last Sunday evening from cholera captum. Survived by one sister and four brothers, funeral at Mud Pike church Monday with Rev. McMurtry and Rev Fides, burial at Walnut Hill cemetery. Mrs Deal left Mun day for visit with daughter Mrs Bless of Franklin.

Southeastern Employees Picnic Set for Sunday

The Milwaukee era railroad hosts its second annual Southeastern employees picnic. Four trains will bring workers and families from Terre Haute Westport West Clinton and Faithorne Ill. The day features free goods music by the Elnora Band contests prizes and wide family participation with no money exchanged.

Oldest Man Woman and Couple Prizes Set For Saturday

Premiums and prizes will be awarded Saturday after noon at 2 o clock for the oldest man, oldest woman, and the longest married couple. Contestants should see R J McCallian who will oversee this department. Other awards follow program, under Mr McCallian’s supervision.
