Two Die and Two Wounded in Tennessee Election Clash

In Sneedville Hancock County Tennessee two men were killed deputy sheriff John Lamb and Telman Collings and two others Wiley Brewer and Whitten Gibson were mortally wounded. Boy Shot Himself in Terre Haute Home

Prisoner Froggatt Escapes and Confesses in Jail

In Muncie Indiana on August 2 Wm Froggett escaped the workhouse twice and a chained iron ball was used to restrain him. The next day he feigned deafness and dumbness prompting a doctor to order an operation. The Aug 2 special election in Muncie Indiana to approve a 15000 subsidy for extending the Chicago Indianapolis & Eastern railroad from Mathews to Muncie via Washington township was defeated 373 to 11. General Manager Drew says the route will shift Maston to Wheeling and extension work to Muncie will start. Arrangements are made in Muncie for a convention of physicians to seek a state organization to protect members against non paying patients and to issue an unfair list of delinquents.
