Mrs Carrie E Resler Dies After Long Illness
Mrs Carrie E Resler 43 wife of Cornelius Resler formerly of Van Buren township died of tuberculosis at her Hoopeston Illinois home after several years illness. She was daughter of the late Julius Chestnut and resided in this community most of life. Survived by husband two daughters Fern and Mrs Elmer Cunningham of Heeperton Hind s five brothers Elisha Fijah Joseph Harve Chestnut and E C Chestnut of Washington and other siblings. Funeral held at Raglesville M E church with Rev O C Barker. burial in Raglesville cemetery.

Edgin Named Assistant Superintendent at DC Reformatory
The Rev. W. E. Edgin of Cheyenne Wyoming former chaplain at the Indiana Reformatory Jeffersonville is appointed assistant superintendent and chaplain of the District of Columbia penal farm and reformatory at Ocoquan Virginia. He previously served as a Odon native. Beginning July 22 operations will include cider making and boiling each Thursday at the mill near the station.

City funds speedway plan for park half mile track
Preparations are under way to build a half mile race track at the city park south of town. A large field west of the grove provides room for both horse and auto speed contests with soil tested as ideal. The committee reports many contributions for grading and expects races this fall or soon after Old Settlers Day.
County Commission Sells Three New Grave Roads
The Daviess county commissioners sold contracts for three new grave roads, two in Washington township and one in Board. Total price for the three roads was 16084 dollars. The Browsing road in Bogard township went to Enid. Overbay bid 3479 dollars for the Dillard road near Oak Grove cemetery, sold to Zed Morton. George A. Keith road in Washington township sold to George Reister for 11349 dollars.

Lightning Strikes Cattle Near Summerville Farm
A well known farmer near Summerville reported five cattle killed by lightning during last Monday night’s storm. Three others were badly stunned and not yet recovered. The cattle were under a tree by the barn. the lightning may have followed a rail fence wire. Losses were covered by insurance.
