Madison Township Plans Schoolhouse After Fire

The Advisory Board and Trustees of Madison Township organize a new northeast corner schoolhouse to replace the last December blaze. The board handles plan selection funds and contracts from sealed bids while the trustee issues warrants and ensures legal compliance under the March 1 1911 act. New Ballard Hotel To Be Sold At Auction

The New Ballard Hotel at Trinity Springs will be sold at auction to satisfy liens and mortgages of creditors tied to proprietor George D. Ballard. The largest claim is $8,373.15 by Marie H. Kelley of Washington, with other liens from $50 to $760. The hotel, a large modern building, operated for only one year and was a noted addition to the watering place.

Cat Adopts Chickens at Odon Hotel Brooder

H YT Herndon owner of the Odon Hotel, a chicken fancier, reports his Maltese cat has adopted a brood of about fifty chickens. The cat guards and nurses the chicks at night, nestling with them in the brooder and accompanying them until they are safe outside in the morning. The chicks trust this cat but fear other cats approaching the loft.

H. E. Marks buys the Chas. Honecker property on Center street and moves into the house Tuesday. Honecker relocates to the C. W. Freeman property on Spring street owned by John Stewart.

Miss Olive Bright Weds John W Greenwood in Secret Owensboro Ceremony

The marriage of Miss Olive Bright to John W Greenwood was announced with the couple wed in Owensboro Kentucky on an April date kept secret until Monday. Mrs Greenwood is the daughter of Mr and Mrs Geo Bright and has been a familiar visitor to Miss Feflie Shively and known to Odeon people.

Surprise 55th Birthday Held For Mrs Zigler

A Sunday gathering near Raglesville surprised Mrs. Winfield Zigler on her 55th birthday. About sixty relatives and friends formed a procession led by Mrs. Mary A Spaulding and her son Simeon, delivering food and greetings. The group later departed after sharing a meal and well wishes. Wirtsel Rosenberry and Raymond G Fellers were both reported ill with mumps or typhoid fever.

The home of Jas Wade six miles south of Odon was damaged about 200 dollars by fire Friday afternoon. Fire found at two o clock. carpenters working nearby helped extinguish. Smoke-blackened walls require repapering. a large roof hole. Loss covered by insurance.

A license to practice medicine in Daviess county was issued Saturday morning by the circuit court clerk. Dr. Orin T. Selfridge, 36, will have an office at Raglesville.

A L Hulett Barn Wrecked in Windstorm

A heavy windstorm last Thursday at Oakland City wrecked the barn of A L Hulett and damaged three oil rigs nearby. The incident notes the notable property loss in the local area without further details.
