Arthur B. Dillon was seriously wounded and Clifford Farris narrowly escaped death when Elnora town marshal Matt Cox fired his revolver during a dispute over an April Fool joke at the depot and in a town office. Cox shot Dillon twice and grazed Farris while others intervened and restrained him. The marshal later wandered the streets with his firearm as a crowd gathered awaiting calmer action.

Robbery at Washington Pool Room Leaves Owner Injured
A pool room co owner, Harry Clements, was attacked by two highwaymen in Washington on Tuesday night. They took 175 dollars in bills a gold watch and his automatic revolver but did not steal a $280 diamond stud or 12 to 15 dollars in silver. Clements sustained a two and a half inch head wound a broken hand and two fractured fingers and is confined to his home. Police scoured the city but made no arrests.

Farmer killed by horse kick near Cornettsville
Hawley Williams moved to a Cornettsville farm last week and was fatally kicked in the stomach Friday while watering his team. A doctor arrived too late as death was instantaneous.
