Miss Nellie Kutch Grieves After Fiancé Death in Denver

Miss Nellie Kutch, long stranded in Terre Haute, learns of the death of Clarence Vincent Vernell Krimgz of Ogdenburg New York, her fiancée, who was to marry her this week. She planned to join him on his return from Denver as a tornado struck Terre Haute. Her brother faces a serious operation, and she is the elder daughter of Mr and Mrs J B Katch of Barns City.

Damage not as great as first reported in flood

Elnora Superintendent’s Daughter Narrowly Escapes Car

The daughter of C. T. Amick, Elnora public schools superintendent, was struck by the Joliff auto truck while running from a buggy. The front of the car hit her forehead and she was thrown to the ground but escaped serious injury with only slight forehead wounds.

Mrs Rachael Penrod Dies At Home In Loogootee

Mrs Rachael Penrod wife of John Penrod and mother of W K Penrod editor and postmaster died at 6 30 PM Sunday in Loogootee after a heart illness. She was a widely known and highly esteemed woman and leaves two daughters Lola Jones of Chicago and Emma Penrod of Loogootee and two sons Wil and Earl, Earl is dead.

Storm Vickers Couple Wed at Home of Reverend Buchanan

Aldis Verdon Storm and Miss Ethel Vickers were married last Wednesday evening at 7 o'clock in the residence of Reverend C. H. Buchanan. The bride, daughter of L. D. Vickers, is a teacher and Odon High School graduate of 1910. Storm, a locomotive engineer for the C. H. & E. Ry., is son of John Storm of Burns City. The couple will reside in Terre Haute.

Dobbins and Richardson Tie at Lone Oak Home

Vivian Oral Dobbins and Edith Lola Richardson wed at Lone Oak in a six o'clock ceremony officiated by Rev. OC Buchanan. The groom, son of Luther Dobbins, is a Scotland merchant. the bride, daughter of James Richardson, is a farmer's daughter from east of Odon. A small guest group witnessed the vows. the couple plan to reside at an undisclosed location.

Tragic Blue Hole Bridge Flood Disaster Kills Four

Four workers die when a B and C work train crashes through the Blue Hole Bridge near Washington last Thursday night. Ott McClellan survives the first car wreck and sixty others escape exposure as foreman John Jackman orders a halt before the trestle collapsed. Survivors endure a cold night marooned on Tom’s hill with rescue efforts underway.

Odon Mail Service Restored After Delays

Odon was cut off from mail for days. Autos carried mail to Elnora, a hand car to Peehunter, and Crooke and Henderson autos brought in the mail Tuesday night. Eight sacks unloaded at the post office drew a large crowd. Service will continue by road until train service starts.
