In Casper, Dennis Shepard asked for privacy hours before Matthew Shepard's funeral. Protesters gathered across from St. Mark's Episcopal Church while authorities prepared security measures and the city imposed a 50 foot no-protest zone near the church. The case has drawn national attention with calls for hate crime legislation and President Clinton’s White House representatives slated to attend.

In Milford Connecticut a Samoyed named Woof Woof disappeared after two months of haunting tenants in Apartment C following Patricia Donahue’s death. Appeals court blocks Yankees stadium referendum ballot

An appellate court in Manhattan ruled the proposed stadium question cannot appear on the November ballot. The ruling supports Mayor Giuliani’s push for a new $1 billion ballpark, preserving the charter commission process and overturning an earlier Bronx judge ruling that the public could vote. Critics say the move aims to sidestep a public vote on relocating the Yankees to Manhattan.
