Hearst urged to speak out for Patricia Hearst moment
Gould urged Hearst to break silence and use his platform to reveal facts of the Patricia Hearst case. He argued the public would demand the truth after learning how she was abducted, terrorized, and pressed into actions with her captors. Murphy contended Patty’s youth and fear justified release rather than punishment. Hearst had been imprisoned for seven years with parole eligibility soon, and a pardon petition was filed with the president.
