Riders Honor Fallen Soldier With Memorial Ride
Mancha and his family helped raise and lower flags at a Memorial Day ceremony marking the 17th annual Permian Basin Vietnam Memorial ride. Gutierrez, a staff sergeant drafted in 1968, died in Vietnam when his vehicle was hit by a rocket. Riders wore shirts bearing Gutierrez’s name and image as they traveled from the memorial to Andrews, with hundreds attending the service that included prayers, a speech, and wreaths for Gold Star, Blue Star, and White Star families.
