Berkshire Hathaway annual meeting draws crowds and online viewership
Tens of thousands fill an arena in Omaha for Warren Buffett and Charlie Munger as Berkshire Hathaway celebrates its unique culture. The event includes a 200,000 square foot exhibit hall with subsidiaries Lee’s Candy, Fruit of the Loom, and Geico selling products while executives discuss investing. For the first time, the meeting is streamed online via Yahoo Finance. Buffett cautions against envy and chasing IPOs, stressing personal due diligence and sensible choices. Observers note the aging leaders and the desire of attendees like Tim Shanahan, son of Bob Shanahan, to learn from Buffett despite the gathering’s scale.
