Death by own hand shadows Megan's Law questions

In 1997 Maine, Thomas Varnum killed himself after Megan's Law notices publicized his past sex offenses. Neighbors debated labeling him a predator, while prosecutors and detectives recalled a history of grooming and abuse of young boys. Varnum had served prison time and was on probation before his death.

Pierceton man linked to fatal package bomb had likable image

Friends described 35 year old Christopher Dean of Pierceton Indiana as a friendly golf and CB radio enthusiast. Federal officials say he sent the package bomb that killed a 17 year old Vermont boy in a dispute over CB radio equipment deals. Dean's ex wife recalled his CB habit and occasional child support issues. Neighbors said he was sociable yet private and Dean previously worked at Little Big Horn Golf Club near Pierceton.
