Working women shift to flats as heels fade from office
In New Orleans a study shows 20 percent of women now wear sneakers to work and many swap high heels for flats or athletic shoes. IBM secretary Madeline Bobbin and IT specialist Nicki Cain describe changing footwear habits as women seek comfort and practicality at work. More than one third wear pumps up to one inch, while 21 percent choose one to two and a quarter inch heels, and 3 percent wear higher heels. The survey notes a five percent margin of error.

Dual nationality law sparks long line at Mexican consulate
In Los Angeles more than 100 Mexicans living in the United States as citizens queued at the Mexican Consulate as a new law allows them to apply for Mexican nationality. The category grants ownership and investment rights and travel flexibility but stops short of full citizenship. The measure aims to retain Mexico's ties with emigrants, with the process open for five years for foreign born Mexicans and their children. Heladio Hernandez, a 65 year old resident, welcomed the change as a path to visiting his homeland without tourist cards.
