Statewide New Mexico blackout snarls traffic and sports
A Four Corners area fire caused a transmission line trip, plunging New Mexico into the largest outage in utility history. Power failed from Las Cruces to Taos, then phased restoration from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Hospitals and jails used generators while traffic lights failed and a Pan American Center basketball game was halted briefly.
