House OKs 4.9 Billion Jobs Relief Package
The House approved a 4.9 billion emergency jobs and recession relief bill by a 324 to 95 vote to create 300,000 to 600,000 jobs and aid the unemployed. The measure, larger than Reagan’s plan, funds health services for the poor, mass transit, housing, and unemployment benefits through March 15. Rep. Conte opposed pork barrel provisions that were later trimmed.

Jobless rate holds steady in February nationwide
