Sindermann Sues OC Regents Over Nonrenewal to Return

Sindermann sued Odessa College officials led by Dr. Jack Rodgers and eight of nine regents seeking his old job and 475090 dollars. He argued firing violated free speech, association, petition and due process after not renewing his 1969 contract while active in faculty tenure efforts and a bid to elevate OC to a four year university. The suit named current and former regents and drew briefs from teacher groups and unions. The ruling referenced Roth v. University and noted possible unwritten tenure standards, with broader implications for university personnel rights.
