Law Enforcement Funds Cut Spark Goldsmith Dispute
Mayor Clint Green blamed politics and County Auditor Bill Hicks for Ector County Commissioners dropping Goldsmith’s $500 monthly police salary subsidy. The county will allocate the money to the sheriff to assign a deputy near Goldsmith, a plan Green doubts will suffice. He urged sheriff involvement or reinstating county payments until Goldsmith grows enough to fund a full officer.

Sheriff Gabrel coordinates a wide search with 60 plus deputies, city police, and other workers near the petrochemical complex, as potential new warrants and a kidnapping charge loom.
