Return to Oz film review paints a grim Oz tale
Knight-Ridder critic notes Return to Oz presents a darker, somber fantasy where Dorothy, played by Fairuza Balk, returns to a ruined Oz ruled by the Nome King and guarded by Mombi and Wheelers. The film contrasts with Judy Garland’s-era magic while portraying Dorothy as a troubled girl seeking home.
