Sharon seeks U.S. push to stabilize Middle East truce
Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon looks to President Bush and Secretary Powell to shore up the two week old cease-fire amid Palestinian allegations that he undermines the accord. However a Sharon official said arrests were made in the lynching of two Israeli soldiers and a Shin Bet list of militants was sent for arrest within 24 hours. Powell urged a move toward the Mitchell plan with a possible settlement freeze and Obama invited Arafat to Washington.

Justices to review Edelman v Lynchburg College case
The Supreme Court agreed to hear Edelman claim that his November 1997 letter to the EEOC should count toward the filing deadline for a sex discrimination complaint. The dispute over when a complaint becomes timely pits the 4th U.S. Circuit against other circuits and could reshape EEOC processing rules. Edelman, a former Lynchburg College biology professor, alleges reverse discrimination after a tenure denial. The decision hinges on whether his initial communication sufficed as a charge and whether sworn documentation was required.
