ECISD Seeks Budget Increases and Downtown Housing Plan
ECISD projects a 16 million rise in local property tax revenue with state and federal funding dips. The 2013-14 budget adds 7.5 million for new hires and raises, 60 teaching posts, 14 admin, four police, and a policy to have three assistant principals at each junior high. The board backs 3.25 million for a four story production of 234 unit luxury apartment near Medical Center Hospital, plus rent details and a 10 year investment return. The plan aims to attract teachers from Oregon and Colorado, opening summer 2015, as new elementary schools come online in 2015-16. The district also approves 3.5 million for manufactured homes for teachers near schools, and names Medal of Honor recipients Alfred Mac Wilson and Marvin Rex Young for possible school names.
