Stockman urges veto of health insurance bills
President Reagan should veto any open ended entitlement for unemployed health coverage. Stockman of the Office of Management and Budget told a House sub committee the administration opposes a broad new entitlement and would require financing and taxes. A Ways and Means draft offers state flexibility with a sunset and a higher federal match, while Commerce Committee bill sets fixed benefits and patient cost. AFL CIO urged passage of the Commerce bill, citing broad bipartisan support and hoping Reagan signs it.
