City county patrol chiefs vow joint in city park policy
Odessa police chief Alan Stewart and Ector County Sheriff Bob Brookshire pledged to draft a mutual aid policy for patrolling in city limits on county property including in city parks near the Coliseum and Medical Center Hospital. The plan responds to tensions over jurisdiction and aims to avoid gaps in enforcement while preserving cooperation. The proposal follows urging by Precinct 3 Commissioner Julian Pressly and discussions at a joint city county meeting. Stewart noted units would respond to calls by mutual aid, and Brookshire said deputies would handle cases when city officers encounter violators, citing manpower limits.
