Bush presses for health-care reform in Congress
President Bush urged Congress to pass a Medicare prescription drug bill by July 4 as momentum grows in both chambers. GOP aides said the House plan includes about 18 billion dollars in five year savings by limiting hospital inflation offsets and raises the deductible for doctors and out of pocket costs. Senate Democrats voiced support but pushed changes to close a drug- cost gap and debated limiting or extending the program, while governors urged shifting costs away from Medicaid for poor seniors.
