Akron excavations unearth bowling balls beneath 12 story site
In Akron Ohio builders digging the foundation for a new 12 story office tower found about a dozen bowling balls buried deep and mostly intact. Local manager Martin Fairley recovered a broken ball and displayed it in his office. Bowling alleys once nearby may explain the find but a store sale is unclear.

Flight clipped by fastener during Columbia's April flight
Space officials report a paper clip caused a minor anomaly in the Space Shuttle Columbia’s April maiden flight. Mission evaluator Joseph E Mechelay said a loose clip floated in a power supply box, triggering a short. A backup supply switch preserved the mission, among 52 minor anomalies, with no impact on the next launch set for Sept 30.
