GOP Leaders Criticized By Butler After RNC Meeting
Democratic chair Paul Butler described the Republican National Committee gathering as disheartening saying leaders prefaced by slogans and epithets instead of debate. He urged clear stances on issues while citing Nixon Eisenhower credit and U2 fallout as signs more is needed in foreign policy. House Leader McCormack accused the party of elevating Nixon improperly and urged accountability for Eisenhower’s and Nixon’s roles. Butler also noted anti war and anti press protests as indicators of rising political tempers.
