After 1873 land split among Jordan’s heirs, Martin McNeill sued for promised $5,000. In 1890 he collected from James Calvin McNeill and Charles McNeill, who lacked funds, prompting a loan against the inheritance. By March 1893 all 100 tenant farmers were expelled without notice, leaving abandoned quarters and items as if residents would return. Descendants urge including slave quarters in plantation history.
