Major Cocaine Bust Leads to Convictions in West Texas Case
Narcotics agents seized over a ton of cocaine in December. Former Presidio County suspect and a partner were jailed for drug trafficking, with co defendants facing life terms. The operation, led by Chambers and Thompson, allegedly smuggled tens of tons into the U.S. from 1986 to 1991 as White and other associates moved marijuana routes through Mexico to Odessa. A Midland interdiction effort, using a labrador, netted 72 arrests in a nine hour roundup of alleged traffickers, while ongoing seizures and court actions reflect ongoing challenges in limiting drug distribution and addressing dealer recidivism.
