Former Tulane star John Williams may return to NBA draft
Former Tulane standout John "Hot Rod" Williams, facing trial on sports bribery charges from a 1985 scheme, could re-enter the June 17 NBA draft. His attorney said Williams is eligible if the legal issues are resolved, though Cleveland previously withdrew a contract after the mistrial. Williams was a 6-foot-10 forward once viewed as a likely first round pick. The case involves alleged point shaving in games against Memphis State and Southern Mississippi, with a second trial set to begin soon. The NBA has noted Williams remains bound to the Cavs by last year's draft, complicating his status.
