Activists Outline Global Drive to End Child Marriage

Women's rights experts and policy researchers outlined Friday strategies for a worldwide effort to curb child marriage. They cited more than 100 million girls under 18 likely to wed in the next decade, many as preteens in developing nations, with risks including death in childbirth and HIV.

FDA rejects Illinois plan to import drugs

The FDA denied Gov. Blagojevich's petition for a pilot program to buy prescription drugs from Canada. The agency says state pilot projects are not authorized by current law and raise safety concerns. Blagojevich says the plan could save Illinois about 91 million dollars. The governor's spokeswoman called the decision not surprising.
